Hi Guys its Louise here !
For October I thought I would do something a little different than a step-by-step; I have borrowed a fabulous concept from one of my favourite magazines, Somerset Memories, called ‘Anatomy of a Page’. So I do hope you love this concept as much as I do.
So here is my layout based on this month’s criteria;
And the Criteria is;
Word: You
Colour: Gold
Must use: leather and or suede and lace
I will highlight 4 elements of the layout and briefly describe the technique used.
1. Non-Adhesive ways to attach elements/embellishments to your layout. For this layout I have adhered the wire loop, string, photo and leather using a short piece of wire like a twist tie. First pierce through the photo, and underlying leather and chipboard background using a sturdy paper piercer and then thread through wire, both ends from underneath, up over the leather string, photo and wire loop and twist like you would a twist tie.
Below is a close-up picture of the wire twist tie
2. Consider using an alternative to alphas for creating titles. I have used an embellishment other than alphas etc., to help create my title. For this layout I used a simple gold eyelet to represent the letter ‘O’ in the word ‘You’.
3. Non-Adhesive ways to attach elements/embellishments to your layout. A brad has been used to adhere the leather piece to the background. Brads, eyelets and staples are a perfect ‘non-adhesive’ way of adhering elements, photos etc., on cards and layouts, go raid your stash!!!
Below is a close-up of how staples were used to adhere the leather piece and photo on one side, to the background.
4. Frame your photo. For this layout I have cut a double loop of plain silver wire and positioned it over the photo to highlight and draw attention to Jessica’s face. Framing photos and elements of a photo is a terrific way to draw in and focus the viewer’s eye/attention.
Well I guys I do hope you enjoy creating with this months criteria, I so cant wait to see what you all create!!!!!
Cheers and Happy 123 Creating!
Lou xoxo
PS don’t keep us waiting tooooo long!!
"I had no idea what I was going to do for the leather/suede as I didn't have anything... one of my friends ended up taking a bit off her handbag and giving it to me to use - that's the flowery bit as a flower centre." :)
"as the criteria were provided by Lou, I’ve been inspired by her style as well"
"I've glimmer misted the background and over the book paper, tag and
lace, the bling, netting, journaling and staples are also all gold."
YOU hand embossed on some copper sheeting and coloured with stazon ink
LACE was coloured with alcohol inks and used behind the word YOU
SUEDE ribbon across bottom of page
VINYL (didn’t have leather) die cut as leaves at top left of page
GOLD paint as highlighter
LOVE the use of gold in this one!!!
and mine....
I was also inspired by the Lovely Lou... I've used Kaisercraft GOLD metallic paint, the suede is the black AC thickers, and there's a strip of lace too :) you can see my closeups on my blog {soon!}
now if these layouts don't inspired you - I don't know WHAT will!!! So come on ladies.... it's a challenge.... but it's a goodie! Get out your GOLD!!

Wow... this would be waaaay outta my comfort zone, but it's very tempting to " 'ave a go". Just got some leather strapping in a mixed goodies bag from our local church fete ~ & I've been looking at it. Maybe it's fe/ate??!! Hee Hee.
